I Dedicated My Life to It from Day One: Interview with Cezarus

Home I Dedicated My Life to It from Day One: Interview with Cezarus

Many players spend years grinding the same stakes. BitB Spins Player Cezarus went from €5 to €500 reg-speed games in just 17 months, then switched to Nitros. We sat down with him to find out what actually drives that kind of progress.

Interview with bitB Spins player Cezarus who won €160,000 on Winamax Expresso Nitro, with quote: "I dedicated my life to it from day one"

You started watching poker on TV and on your grandfather’s computer when you were twelve. What was it about the game that first caught your attention?

As a kid, I watched adults go through what looked like incredibly dull careers and thought: that’s never going to be me. When I discovered poker, I was amazed that a game existed where strategy and money intersected, and where real skill made a difference. I used to watch Poker After Dark at my grandfather’s place and daydream about being in that world one day.

Before Spin & Gos, you were playing live games. What did that experience teach you about poker, and about people?

It confirmed that I genuinely loved the game and wanted to pursue it seriously. But live poker was a bit too slow for me.

You discovered Spins almost by accident, while waiting for a live table to open up. Did it feel like a serious format at that point, or just something to fill the time?

Completely random, honestly. I downloaded Winamax to play some PLO cash games, but while I was waiting for my account verification to go through, Spins were the only thing available to play. I got hooked instantly and haven’t played a single PLO hand since.

You went from €5 reg-speed games to €500s in 17 months. That’s an unusually fast climb. What drove that pace?

A combination of things. It was during COVID, so the games were considerably softer than they are now. But beyond that, I dedicated my life to it from day one. Around three to four hours of studying and nine to ten hours of playing every day, with no days off.

Were there moments during that climb where you felt genuinely stuck, or did it feel like continuous forward momentum?

I don’t remember any major setbacks during the climb itself. There were some difficult patches at high stakes, a few reg wars that took a toll, but nothing that stopped the overall trajectory.

What did joining your first stable give you that you couldn’t have found grinding solo?

At the time, and I think this is probably still true today, there was no quality study material for Spins anywhere on the internet. The only real path to improvement was joining a stable and studying properly. My results jumped significantly once I did.

You left a stable where you’d already reached €500s to start over in a new format. That’s not an obvious move. What made you confident it was the right call?

It felt like an easy decision, actually. Nitros are considerably more valuable right now. And since it’s a similar format, the transition wasn’t that difficult.

What surprised you most about Nitros when you first switched from reg-speed?

The traffic. The volume of games available compared to reg-speed was a different world entirely.

What made bitB Spins specifically the right fit?

I knew bitB Spins was the biggest Nitro stable on Winamax. That was the main draw.

You’ve been at the top of the ladder for at least three years now. What does staying sharp look like day to day?

I keep a strict routine: clean diet, sports, good sleep, and around an hour of study time. Also, I don’t drink or smoke. Consistency is everything.

Variance hits harder at high stakes, especially with fewer tables running. How do you handle the swings psychologically?

I’d say I’m fairly strong mentally, so it doesn’t affect me much. One thing that helps: I only check my results once a week. It does a lot for peace of mind.

How has being part of bitB Spins changed how you approach the game, compared to grinding alone or at your previous stable?

It’s genuinely good to be around people who think the same way you do and take the game as seriously. Everyone’s improving quickly, and we’re constantly learning from each other.

What does the bitB Spins community give you that you couldn’t find elsewhere?

Aside from the coaching material and the tools, it’s the network. Joining bitB Spins put me in contact with a lot of very strong players. I discuss strategy and study with them on a daily basis. This kind of environment is hard to replicate.

What advice would you give someone who’s at the start of their poker journey?

My observation is that there are a lot of lazy people in poker. So as long as you stay consistent and disciplined over a long enough period of time, you can build a very good living from this game.
